What you should do before 30 June to make the next financial year your best yet!

On the 30th of June you will see accountants everywhere celebrating. It is the end of the financial year. Another great year ticked off and just enough time for a celebratory drink before we do it all again.

But it is also a great time to stop and think…

It is wonderful to reflect on and celebrate our success on 30 June. But it is also the ideal time to do the work to make your next financial year even better than the last one. Here are some ideas to get you thinking and planning:

Look back on your last financial year and reflect on what worked for you and the things you would like to improve or change. Really think deeply about the things that bug you or take away from your happiness. Did you achieve your financial goals? Do you feel fulfilled by your business or employment? My mantra - I choose to live each day with intention. I don’t always get it right, but by thinking about what I want my purpose to be I am infinitely closer to achieving my goals. We only get one life, and it is so important to make sure we are as happy and fulfilled as we can be. Whether or not we achieve this is completely up to us.

Set your goals and be specific about what you want your days, weeks and months to look like. If you can really define your goals in detail, you will consciously and unconsciously take account of these goals in all your decision making throughout the year and be so much more likely to achieve them.

Set aside time in your diary for holidays and time with family. Having a break to look forward to will keep you motivated and help you to not get burnt out. Prioritising time with your family will help you stay grounded and help you to preserve and enrich the most important relationships in your life.

Plan to help those in need in some way. Whether it’s volunteering in some capacity or raising money for a charity the inner satisfaction you will get from helping other people will massively outweigh any cost.

Best wishes and Happy 30 June xx
